Welcome
to the Northford Timber Framers web site. This is a page that I've put
together for my father, George. He has been passionately into post and
beam barn structures since 1976, the year I was born. It was then that
he discovered and became influenced by author, illustrator,
anthropologist, meteorologist and historian Eric Sloane
who is famous for his depictions of barns and covered bridges. He
became energized by Eric Sloane's writings and took down his first barn
on Forest Rd, Northford CT with me in a playpen in the back of his
pick-up truck frantically trying to get into his wood preservative and
his cigars. In 2001, we were told that he is in need
of a heart transplant due to a rare disease called Sarcoidosis.
This seems like devastating news to a man who has devoted his adult life to teaching himself the art of timber framing and
passing along that art to others. I don't believe I've ever completely
understood the importance of being a donor until now. With that in
mind, I encourage you to please sign your donor card and to inspire others around you to do the same. I'd like to share with you some of Dad's past woodworking ventures
